Party Info

Some parents have been asking questions regarding the party, so I thought I'd clarify what exactly is happening.  Since we have chapel and then an early dismissal on Friday, I am thinking we will play board games before recess and then do treats and the movie after recess.   You could send a bag of chips or bowl of popcorn, a dozen cookies, a fruit or veggie plate, etc. (does not need to be enough for everyone!).  We will eat these treats at about 10:30 - 11am while we watch a movie,  then go to chapel, then have a healthy lunch and go outside to play.  So, please still send a lunch for Friday, and only send a small amount of food.

 Eliza is bringing cups and a beverage, so we are good in that department.  Otherwise, I'm really not too concerned about who sends what. As long as each student gets to nibble on a treat, we'll all be happy.  So, if you have something send it, if you don't , don't worry - we've always had more than enough food!

Hello parents and students! This very well may be my last post this year!!!  Here are important dates for the last 2 weeks of school!

• Sports Day is this Friday, June 8th (rain or shine). Thank you to parents who have already volunteered. If you are still thinking about it, please get your forms in asap as we do still need a few more helpers!!! Sports Days will be an early dismissal at 1:10pm. If you wish to take your child sooner, please let me know. Please send a picnic lunch (one that doesn't require microwave)

• The Spring Concert will be next Tuesday 12th. Students will be expected to be in their classrooms at 6:30; concert begins at 7pm. 

• Beach Day is next Wednesday, June 13th.  Students will be taken by bus there. If you wish to take your child straight home after beach day, then it needs to be stated on the permission form, and also please come let me know at the park when you are leaving with your child. I will be returning by bus with the rest of the students for an early dismissal at 2:25pm.  Please send a picnicn lunch, as students will be eating at the park. 

• We will have a class party on the last day (friday, June 15th) at school.  We will have food, games, and a movie. So, on that day, please send snacks, treats, or beverages and a favourite board game.  Also, I don't own any kids movies, so if you have a suggestion that you wouldn't mind lending could you please email me? Thanks!!!

Hello Everyone,

• If you wish to purchase a yearbook this year, you must fill out a pre-order form in order to be guaranteed a book. The forms are in the warrior, or if you email me, I can send you a digital copy to print, fill out, and return with $35.  I have given a cd of pictures from our class trips, activities, etc. to the yearbook committee, so we will be well represented! :)

• Sports day will be Friday, June 8th and we need volunteers to man stations or student groups.  This is just a heads up, as volunteer forms will be sent out on Monday, May 28th.  If you are interested, please fill out the form and send back asap.  Also, sports day will be an early dismissal at 1PM. 

• Just a reminder that our field trip is next Tuesday (bring car seats and dress for the weather!).  Thanks to the parent drivers who have already volunteered! :)  It looks like we will have enough drivers, but if you are still interested in coming/driving, you are welcome.  If you volunteered to drive or would like to join our field trip, please arrive at 9:25am.

• It is chapel and Pizza day this Friday, May 25th.  No chapel NEXT Friday, June 1st.  

• Home reading will be due this Friday, June 1st. This will be the last time I collect since we won't be in school for long enough in June.  I will honor students minutes who are within the time frame in their duotangs, so anyone who has not gotten around Canada will still get a prize (book) for reading the expected amount minutes for the end of May (3,500 minutes).

Here we are, down to five weeks of school left!!!  It is going to be a busy last few weeks I think.  Here are some things that are happening:

• Scholastic book fair is this week from Wednesday to Friday (May 16-18).

• Grandparents’ Day is this Friday, May 18 from 10am – 12pm.  There will be a short program – the grade three’s will be performing the Lord’s Prayer with actions (as previously seen in chapel).  And then I believe the grandparents will be joining our class to buddy read.  If a student doesn’t have a grandparent present, they will be buddied up with a friend and their grandparent(s).

• Bake Sale this Wednesday, May 16. Bring your pocket change to raise money for our grads. 

• Our last field trip will be Tuesday, May 29 to A Rocha to learn more about plants!  Permission forms are still coming; however, I thought I would give a heads up as we will be needing parent drivers again. 

• We will be collecting clear glass jars for our final art project.  It can be a jam, salad dressing, or canning jar. Please make sure it is clean with the label removed. Each child will need just one, but if you have more than one, please send it in case we are missing a few in the end.

• New Words To Learn Sheet on Tuesday!  I have changed the words to learn sheet slightly – There are now 3 columns instead of 2. So, the students will copy the word, and then study it twice by reading, speling, covering, printing, and proofreading the word (this information is on there).  I am hoping it is easier to follow and the extra practice helps us spell better!

One final note… I have only recently been informed that often there is a party on the last day of school.  If you are interested in hosting a party, please let me know sometime soon.  Otherwise, we can always arrange for something fun to happen here.  :)  Have a great week!

Field Trip  info

-          If you haven’t done so, please send in the field trip permission form TOMORROW, Tuesday April 24^th.

-          Parent Drivers, please arrive at 8:45am

-          Students are encouraged to dress up as pioneers. Because the winter uniform lends itself toward what pioneers might have worn, we have decided that student may either dress up as a pioneer OR wear the winter uniform if they have nothing else.

-          Please remember to send your child’s booster

Words To Learn – Last week, I had almost half the class not complete their homework by either not sending it back to school or returning it missing work on the Words To Learn side of the sheet.  Those sheets have the Spelling Review (weekly spelling test) on one side a blank Words To Learn (to be studied) on the other side.  Students are expected to study each word they get wrong on the review by printing it on the Words To Learn side, left column, then spell it out loud, cover it, write it again on the right column, and then check that it is correct.  If a student gets a perfect score, they are expected to look up 3 words in the dictionary they wish to learn.  Therefore, I expect the sheet to come back with at least 3 words down both columns to show me that they have studied.   I would like to encourage you to press on and continue to check homework, sign planners, etc. in these last few weeks of the school year.

Welcome Back!

I sure hope you all had a restful and relaxing spring break! :) Here are some tidbits for the next 2 weeks!

• Friday, April 6 – No School
• Monday, April 9th – No School
• Friday, April 13th – Grade Three Chapel. All are welcome to come watch at 11:20am!
• Friday, April 13th – Pizza Day! (I believe forms are still coming)
• Scholastic Due Friday April 13th
• Please remember to keep praying for the grade 11 class in Guatemala, especially the grade three buddies, Adriana and Cory.
• If you have not done so yet, please send back your child’s signed report card cover page and envelope

Wow, I can’t believe we are down to the last weeks of school before spring break! I just want to say a HUGE thanks to the parents who came on Friday to help with building our structures! I could not have done it without you! :)

Thank you for getting book reports in on time and the minutes counted up! I apologize for being unable to move bikes and do rewards the very next day! Life happens! I now have brand new
BOOKS that will be the reward for making it around Canada! Four students have won so far, and it is my HOPE that every student in this class gets to take home at least one book for making it around Canada!

I just want to comment on the March book reports. Please note, one of the book reports is for a BIOGRAPHY. Students can use any book, either from home, the public library, or from school. Students can ask either myself or our librarian to help them find a biography from the school if need be, and we have a couple here in class. However, if they will borrow from school, then they will need to have it by next Friday, as book reports will be due the day we get back after Spring Break. I will have Mrs. Klomps talk to the class about biographies and where to find them.

Scholastic went home today and will be due this Friday, March 9

Chapel – No chapel next Friday or the first week back. Grade three chapel will be the second week back, April 13.

Next Friday is early dismissal at 1:10pm
